H-E-B announced plans to open in August a new San Antonio store that will offer curbside grocery delivery, and a dHrive-thru window to pick up barbecue made in-store, My San Antonio reports. The drive-thru True Texas BBQ — the chain’s new barbecue restaurant — will be a first for the company and a major draw of the new, 118,000-square-foot store opening at Bulverde Marketplace on the southwest corner of Loop 1604 and Bulverde Road.
Company spokeswoman Dya Campos said the fast-casual True Texas BBQ will serve breakfast, tacos and more in addition to its “fresh, natural smoked meats.”
“Even if families don’t need to necessarily do a full shop, the True Texas BBQ will be a spot where families can go and dine together and enjoy what is arguably some of the best barbecue in Texas,” Campos said.
H-E-B’s new curbside delivery service will come to the Bulverde store, along with another new San Antonio store at the intersection of Alamo Ranch and Alamo parkways on the city’s west side. The service is already offered at 22 H-E-B stores.
Possibly the best part of True Texas BBQ is the sauce dispenser, which clearly defines what sauce is Kansas City style and which is Texas style.
The new Bulverde store will also feature an expanded convenience store, filling station and car wash.
The company currently runs nine convenience stores in Texas, six of which lie in San Antonio.
Construction on the Bulverde store will cost about $12.7 million, and the Alamo Ranch store will run about $17 million
