Media Darling Who Knelt at MLB Game Arrested for Pointing Gun at Woman

Millionaire athletes who refuse to stand for the national anthem are heroes and role models — just ask the media.

While television ratings and viewership numbers for the NFL have steadily declined since the anthem drama heated up, many pundits on the left have seemed enamored with Colin Kaepernick and other athletes who followed his disrespectful example.

In a development that should surprise almost nobody, it turns out that many of the take-a-knee crowd have problems with the law. Over the weekend, the only player within Major League Baseball to kneel for the anthem was arrested on a serious gun charge.

Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell is accused of pointing a gun at a female food delivery worker in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“Scottsdale police said officers went to Maxwell’s home Saturday night after getting a call about a person with a gun. Maxwell was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct,” reported Fox News.

“Police said Maxwell was held in custody pending an initial appearance,” the news channel continued.

What a great role model.

The left-leaning media has previously fawned over Maxwell for bravely, er, disrespecting a flag for which countless people have died.

“Athletics’ rookie catcher Bruce Maxwell went to one knee during the national anthem before a game against Texas. MLB finally had its first anthem protester. It’s about time,” Sports Illustrated contributor Jon Tayler glowingly wrote.

In addition to his attention-seeking behavior by failing to stand out of respect for the American flag, Maxwell was also in the news for another incident of lashing out at a service employee last week.

Maxwell claimed during a visit to his hometown of Huntsville, Ala., that he was refused service at a restaurant because of his protest. But a waiter told Fox News that Maxwell was “outright lying” about what happened.

“He is outright lying. This is really upsetting as he was given full service, I didn’t even know who Bruce Maxwell was,” explained the 42-year-old waiter named Matt Henry. “This all started because I carded his friend who wanted to order a beer.”

It’s strangely predictable that spoiled players who can’t be respectful or decent to people around them also have a problem respecting the flag… or the law.

The truly ironic part of this saga is that the anthem protests supposedly started out of outrage over the “oppression of people of color” false narrative, and alleged police abuse of anyone with dark skin.

In reality, it looks like Maxwell is the one abusing and assaulting anyone who gets in his way. It’s true: black Americans do face many issues. Young black men are being shot in the streets — but the people pulling the triggers are often criminals of the same race.

One of the biggest problems in that community is the black-on-black crime rate in their own neighborhoods, yet who is kneeling for that?

If players and the media were truly concerned about crime and oppression, they could start by condemning people who allegedly assault women with guns. They could start with Bruce Maxwell.
